MELISSA EMMA LANDIS, the daughter of MAJOR ABSALOM LOWE LANDIS and NANCY TANNEHILL CARTER,  was born September 04, 1844, in Shelbyville, Bedford County, Tennessee,  USA, and died August 28, 1912, in Shelbyville, Bedford County, Tennessee,  USA.  She married JACOB MORTON SHOFNER on July 23, 1862, in Shelbyville, Bedford County, Tennessee, USA, son of MICHAEL SHOFNER and SOPHRONIA EGLANTINE MORTON.  He was born August 02, 1841, in Shelbyville, Bedford County, Tennessee,  USA, and died July 08, 1916, in Shelbyville, Bedford County, Tennessee,  USA.
